POSITION SUMMARY
The Head Groundskeeper oversees the maintenance and enhancement of Greater Nevada Field’s playing surface and surrounding areas to meet MLB standards. Responsibilities include budget management, staffing, and procurement.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Apply turf management expertise to Develop and maintain a comprehensive MLB PDL approved field maintenance program
- Create and implement a written MLB PDL approved field/grounds management plan to maintain a PDL complaint field and perform a yearly self-audit
- Execute the maintenance of stadium playing field with regards to safety, playability, and aesthetics
- Conduct regular inspections of the playing surface, addressing any issues promptly, and providing detailed reports to management
- Oversee all preventative maintenance on field/grounds equipment to maximize lifespan
- Implement the use of an environmentally-sound pest management program that includes Integrated Pest Management; maintain records of all actions taken to manage identified pests/abatement or applications
- Responsible for landscape, upkeep, and maintenance around the stadium including front yard, grass berm, and baseball mountain/kids zone landscape, ornamental landscapes, lawn maintenance, and grounds maintenance that are associated with the entire property
- Responsible for upkeep and maintenance of grounds area
- Manage and develop Grounds Team, including hiring, daily oversight, professional development, and training
- Oversee all purchases of grounds management according to budget guidelines
- Implement tarping procedures to protect the field during inclement weather to ensure minimal impact to game delays
- Effectively communicate with coaching staff(s) and umpires with regards to practice schedules, weather conditions, and game schedules
- Oversee planning and execution special events to reduce impact on field and stadium grounds
- Stay informed about industry trends, best practices, and new technologies in turf management, continuously seeking opportunities for professional development and improvement
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- Turfgrass degree or certification (two-year program or higher preferred)
- Baseball field maintenance experience
- Ability to operate heavy equipment in a safe and efficient manner
- Knowledge of turfgrass management practices
- Ability to perform labor intensive tasks
- Staff management and time management skills
- Basic equipment troubleshooting skills
- Completion of a satisfactory background check

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb stairs
