Job Description and Duties
The assistant will work closely with the superintendent on all aspects of golf course operations, including capital project management, IPM programs, budget development, and equipment maintenance. Individuals must be self-motivated with strong organizational skills, and willing to go the extra mile for the betterment of GRGC. A successful candidate will be reliable, forward-thinking, and able to manage staff and projects. He or she must demonstrate strong computer skills to maintain record keeping, daily and yearly scheduling, and data tracking. The assistant must be willing to work select weekends during the golf season.
- Assist in the planning and supervising of the maintenance of greens, tees, fairways, and roughs; schedule work and supervise the employees and the use of equipment.
- The operation of all equipment and instruction for other operators on the use and care of mowing and other equipment.
- Leadership of labor crews tasked with special projects.
- Completes daily golf course set-up, including pin and tee locations.
- Supervises and participates in the operation and maintenance of pumps, and in the maintenance of irrigation and drainage systems.
- Monitors all turf grass areas for drought and waters appropriately.
- Performs routine safety inspection on all application equipment.
- Maintains chemical storage and mixing areas.
- Snow removal in the parking lot, around the clubhouse and maintenance facility.
- Assistant in the management of capital projects
- Education – Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree in Turfgrass Management
- 2-4 years of experience on high end golf course
- Project management is preferred
- Strong understanding of irrigation/moisture management
- Fertilizer and sprayer calibration
- Computer record keeping
