Turtle Creek Club is seeking a motivated, career-driven Assistant Golf Course Superintendent to join our turf management team. This position works closely with the Golf Course Superintendent to maintain exceptional course conditions and support all aspects of daily golf course maintenance.
The Assistant Superintendent plays a key leadership role in staff supervision, agronomic planning, and execution of daily operations. The ideal candidate is a highly motivated turf professional who is passionate about golf course maintenance, eager to continue developing their skills, and committed to producing championship-level playing conditions.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Golf Course Superintendent in planning and executing daily maintenance operations
- Supervise, train, and motivate golf course maintenance staff
- Assist with pesticide and fertilizer applications in accordance with state and federal regulations
- Monitor turfgrass health and assist with agronomic programs including fertility, pest management, and cultural practices
- Assist with irrigation system management including troubleshooting, scheduling, and repairs
- Participate in daily course setup including hole locations, tee markers, and overall course presentation
- Maintain accurate records for chemical applications, equipment use, and maintenance activities
- Operate and oversee the use of golf course maintenance equipment
- Assist with staff scheduling and daily task assignments
- Promote a safe and professional work environment and ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards
Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, Horticulture, or related field preferred
- 1–3+ years of golf course maintenance experience, preferably at a private or high-end facility
- Working knowledge of turfgrass fertility, irrigation, pest management, and cultural practices
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to train and manage a diverse staff
- Ability to obtain or currently possess a Florida pesticide applicator license
- Valid driver’s license
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Positive attitude with a strong work ethic and passion for the turf industry
- Spanish speaking skills a plus
Previous renovation experience preferred
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions typical of South Florida
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Ability to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as required in the golf course industry
About Turtle Creek Club
Turtle Creek Club, located in Tequesta, was founded in 1969 when a group of four investors acquired approximately 350 acres of land that included the former Hunt Club property. The club was chartered as a private golf club, and an 18-hole championship golf course designed by renowned architect Joe Lee opened for play in 1970–1971. Built on roughly 150 acres, the course reflected Lee’s philosophy of strategic yet fair golf, emphasizing playability for golfers of all skill levels while maintaining a traditional South Florida character. In 1971, the membership purchased the club from the founders, ensuring Turtle Creek’s long-standing identity as a member-owned private club. Over the decades, Turtle Creek Club has invested thoughtfully in maintaining and improving its golf course while respecting its original design. A significant modernization project occurred in 2003, focusing on turf conversion and agronomic enhancements, followed by a comprehensive renovation in 2016 led by golf course architect Kipp Schulties, which preserved Joe Lee’s design intent while upgrading turf performance and playability.
