ABOUT BROOKSIDE COUNTRY CLUB OF ALLENTOWN
Macungie, PA | Brookside Country Club of Allentown is a private member-owned
club formed in 1929 as a 501(c))7) organization. The course is over 120 acres
newly renovated, completed in 2023.
The club has the benefit of a low membership cap, which allows members
unhindered opportunities to play and enjoy the amenities of the club. The culture at
the club is a family centric facility with active golf for all demographics of the
club.
The membership overwhelmingly approved a $7.1 Million Capital project, now
finished that renovated all bunkers, leveled tee boxes, expanded greens, and
removed 300+ trees. The facility also built a 15,000 square foot indoor racquets
facility, a new restaurant and pool bar.

POSITION OVERVIEW
Title: Golf Course Superintendent
Reports to: General Manager
Supervises: Agronomy Staff
Position Description: The Superintendent is entrusted with the care, maintenance,
and continuous improvement of the golf course, practice facilities, and surrounding
grounds. This individual will serve as a hands-on leader, responsible for ensuring
pristine playing conditions, environmental stewardship, and innovative agronomic
practices that reflect the high standards of the Club and its membership.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Course Conditioning & Playability
Provide championship-level course conditions that consistently meet or exceed
member expectations.
Develop and implement innovative agronomic programs, cultural practices, and
pest management strategies.
Oversee all aspects of turfgrass management
Leadership, Mentorship & Team Development
Recruit, train, mentor, and motivate a high-performing turf management team of
20 staff members (FT & PT)
Serve as a mentor to assistant superintendent, providing guidance, education, and
opportunities that promote their professional development and prepare them for
future superintendent roles.
Foster a culture of accountability, pride, collaboration, and continuous
improvement.
Promote safety standards and compliance with all regulatory requirements.
Be a highly visible leader on the golf course, regularly engaging with members,
professional staff, and maintenance employees to demonstrate accessibility,
approachability, and a hands-on commitment to excellence.
Planning, Administration & Operational Partnership
Develop and manage operating and capital budgets in alignment with the Club’s
strategic goals.
Collaborate with the General Manager, Board, and Green Committee on longrange planning, including renovations, upgrades, and sustainability initiatives.
Partner daily with the Head Golf Professional to align course setup, tournament
preparation, pace-of-play strategies, and overall member golf experience.
Maintain accurate records of agronomic practices, weather data, pesticide
applications, and equipment maintenance utilizing USGA DEACON
Communication & Member Relations
Maintain open and professional communication with the General Manager, Golf
Professional Staff, Green Committee, and membership.
Provide clear, timely updates regarding course conditions, upcoming projects, and
agronomic initiatives.
Educate the membership by explaining not only what agronomic practices are
taking place, but also why they are necessary—whether it’s aerification,
topdressing, or adjustments in mowing heights—so members gain understanding
and appreciation for how each decision enhances playability, turf health, and the
long-term quality of the golf course.
Develop and maintain multiple channels of communication (e.g., Text messages,
email blasts, website updates, and on-course signage) to keep members
consistently informed and engaged.
Represent the Club in a professional manner with members, staff, industry peers,
and vendors.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Including, but not limited to, the following:
Minimum of 7–10 years of progressive golf course management experience
GCSAA members, Class A or CGCS preferred.
Demonstrated success managing regional turfgrass in the Northeaster United States
Bachelor’s or associate’s degree in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy,
Horticulture, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Proven expertise in turfgrass management, irrigation systems, and course
improvements and renovation projects.
Strong financial management skills, including budgeting, forecasting, and capital
planning.
Demonstrated leadership ability with a history of high employee retention and staff
development
