Job Description
The King and Prince Golf Club is entering a defining new chapter, and we are seeking a thoughtful, service-driven Head Golf Professional to help bring it to life.
Located on St. Simons Island, The King and Prince Golf Club is rooted in coastal Georgia and shaped by tidal marshes, live oaks, and the easy rhythm of island life. Following a transformative renovation led by Beau Welling Design, the club will reopen as a refined private golf experience centered on connection, craftsmanship, and coastal ease.
This is a rare opportunity to help build and lead the golf operation of a modern coastal private club from the ground up, thoughtfully, intentionally, and with long-term vision.
The Opportunity
As Head Golf Professional, you will lead the day-to-day golf operation while helping define the standards, culture, and member experience during one of the most important moments in the club’s history.
What Makes This Role Unique
- The opportunity to build and lead golf operations for a newly renovated private club
- A course shaped by Beau Welling Design, blending strategic playability with the natural coastal landscape
- A setting defined by marshland, live oaks, and coastal ecology, where the golf experience is inseparable from its surroundings
- Direct alignment with the hospitality heritage of The King and Prince Beach & Golf Resort
- The ability to influence programming, service standards, and the long-term golf experience
- A chance to help define the culture and traditions of a private club at its inception
Key Responsibilities
Golf Operations & Experience
- Lead all aspects of the daily golf operation, including golf shop, practice facilities, and outside services
- Establish service standards that reflect a refined yet approachable private club environment
- Ensure a seamless and consistent member experience across all touchpoints
- Maintain a visible and engaged presence within the golf operation
Programming & Member Engagement
- Develop and execute a thoughtful calendar of tournaments and member events
- Create inclusive, well-paced programming for members of all skill levels
- Lead member trips, events, and golf experiences that deepen connection to the club
- Provide instruction and club fitting in a manner that is personalized and relationship-driven
Club Development & Opening
- Assist in operational planning leading into the club’s reopening
- Contribute to the setup and functionality of the golf shop and practice facilities
- Support the implementation of golf systems and technology
- Help establish traditions, rituals, and the overall rhythm of the golf experience
Merchandising & Retail
- Curate a golf shop offering that reflects the club’s aesthetic and coastal identity
- Oversee merchandising, inventory, and vendor relationships
- Create a retail environment that feels considered, elevated, and consistent with the brand
Team Leadership
- Develop, and mentor a high-performing team of golf professionals and staff
- Foster a culture of hospitality, accountability, and quiet excellence
- Lead with clarity, consistency, and respect across all areas of the operation
Financial & Administrative Oversight
- Manage daily operations, billing, and reporting processes
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning efforts
- Monitor performance while maintaining a focus on long-term sustainability over short-term gains
The Kind of Leader We Are Looking For
The ideal candidate is composed, detail-oriented, and deeply committed to service. You understand that great golf operations are felt more than seen, defined by consistency, anticipation, and care.
You lead with presence rather than volume. You are comfortable managing complexity, but you prioritize clarity and simplicity in the member experience. You value relationships, take pride in your craft, and understand that a private club is ultimately about belonging.
Excellence does not need to be loud. The experience should speak for itself.
Experience & Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in a private club or high-end golf environment
- Demonstrated leadership in golf operations, member programming, and team development
- Strong understanding of tournament operations, instruction, and golf systems
- Experience with golf technology platforms (tee sheets, handicap systems, POS)
- PGA membership required
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
About The King and Prince Golf Club
Nestled among ancient live oaks draped in Spanish moss, with sweeping views of pristine salt marshes and tidal creeks, The King and Prince Golf Club occupies one of coastal Georgia’s most remarkable landscapes. Now, under the stewardship of South Street Partners, this storied course is being reimagined by the acclaimed Beau Welling Design — the visionary team behind PGA Frisco’s award-winning Fields Ranch West and Sea Island’s Ocean Forest Golf Club. The result will be a fully private golf club that honors the natural beauty of St. Simons Island while delivering a world-class playing experience worthy of its extraordinary setting.
